Columbus Day Cool Stuff

On Monday we did some cool Columbus Day activities.  Our theme this week is "Up, Up, and Away" but we did Columbus on his special day.
3 ships art activity

Spice Smelling Sort... since Columbus set out to look for spices!

I walked out of the room and she had put some on the line and told me that she kinda liked the smell and kinda didn't!

Can you guess her favorite?  Cinnamon of course!

Columbus on his boat!

Redskin Party

Sunday night we had a Redskin party at Adam's house.  Not only did the Skins play their rivals but it was also the anniversary of Uncle Dave's death.  What better way to spend it than a family get together to watch the Skins!
Can you spot U. Dave's earn...we brought him with us

Favorite Things Poster - Sunday School Day 3

On Sunday, Annaliese shared her "My Favorite Things" poster to her Sunday School class.  She was very proud to show it off.  Later Annaliese and Daddy went to Gammy's while Mommy had some shopping time alone.

Some of her favorite things

On Saturday we wanted to: 1) Go to the Breast Cancer Walk 2) Go to the Fall Fest at Landstown Commons BUT it rained.  Instead I went to a Craft Show and Annaliese, Daddy, and Frul went to lunch.  To prepare for Annaliese's Sunday School homework we took some pics of her favorite things to go on a poster.
Favorite Foods (the thing in front of the donut is steak...she LOVES "steaks on the grill")

Favorite Toys

More Apple Stuff

Last Friday Annaliese went to a make-up class at her gym.
That evening we did some fun apple stuff as a review of our apple unit.
Apple Sink or Float

Measuring the apple in non-standard units

Investigating the apple seeds with a magnifying glass

Imprompto Play Date

Also last Thursday we had Ava over for an unexpected play date while her mom went to a meeting.  The girls LOVED being together as always!

Lunch Time...It's always easier when they have EVERYTHING alike.

Music Time

The "Curly Headed Cuties"

Review Week

Last week we decided to do a "review/catch up" week for our lessons.  I usually way over plan on lessons and have tons of extra activities that we don't get to in our weekly themes.  Because there are so many activities that she either enjoyed and wants to do again or we don't get to we will have some "review/catch up" weeks throughout our school year.  Last Thursday morning she went to music class and then came home and played with the "Cat under the Hat" flannel board activity we had for our Community Helpers week.
Rhythm dancing with Mrs. VA

The "Cat Under the Hat" felt rhyme goes like this:
"Little cat, little cat...

"...are you hiding under the cowboy hat?"

"Nope"
You change out the names of various hats until the little cat underneath is revealed!

Oh and she reviewed a little about vibration from our Instruments/All About Music week as she watched the M&M's jump around on the drum when she banged it.  Of course "sweets girl" LOVED this!
